Pistorius returns to running track

A South African newspaper has published a photograph of Oscar Pistorius at a running track in his carbon fibre blades as the Olympian’s agent says his return to training is imminent.

The Afrikaans-language Beeld newspaper has the image of Pistorius, who was charged with murder over the shooting of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, on the front page of today’s edition. The double amputee is wearing his blades and walking with his hands on his hips.

The newspaper says the photo was taken on March 24 by a high school student visiting the University of Pretoria, Pistorius’s practice facility.

Pistorius’s agent, Peet van Zyl, said he was expecting the photo to be published. He said Pistorius was only “having a jog” but will likely return to full training soon.
