The leaders of the main European parties have agreed to put forward Jean-Claude Juncker as the next President of the European Commission.
The presidents of the so-called 'Europarties' say Mr Juncker should be the first candidate, after his party the EPP won the most seats in the European elections.
There had been speculation last night that the EPP's leaders from several member states - including Angela Merkel - were reconsidering their support for Mr Juncker to take over from Jose Manuel Barroso.
That speculation had led to renewed possibilities that Enda Kenny could be approached to take the top job in Brussels, starting in November.
