Muslim Council of Britain condemns Woolwich killing

The Muslim Council of Britain has condemned the suspected terrorist murder of a soldier on the streets of London yesterday.

The Ministry of Defence has named the victim, who was hacked to death as 25-year-old, Drummer Lee Rigby.

It is thought two men, who have been arrested in relation to the incident, were known to security services.

Farooq Murad of the Muslim Council of Britain said that the act does not represent their community.

"Muslims have long served in this country's armed forces, proudly and with honour," he said.

"This attack on a member of the armed forces is dishonourable and no cause justifies this murder."
