Mother admits lying about guard taking her baby away from her while breastfeeding

A woman in England who falsely claimed a Primark security guard pulled her baby away from her while breastfeeding has pleaded guilty to intent to pervert the course of justice.

Caroline Starmer posted on Facebook that the guard took nine-month-old daughter Paige from her on July 13 at the store in Humberstone Gate, Leicester.

The story was then widely reported in the media and in interviews she claimed a male security guard grabbed the child from her breast.

Appearing at Leicester Crown Court, Starmer, of Marshall Street, Woodgate, Leicester, admitted the charge.

His Honour Judge Simon Hammond told Starmer: ``This is a very serious matter. The court will consider a custodial sentence.''

Starmer declined to comment outside the court.

She will be sentenced on December 3.
