Manhunt launched in UK for killer on the run

Detectives have appealed for the public’s help to hunt down a knife attacker who stabbed a 47-year-old father over a £60 debt.

James Fletcher, from Coventry, skipped bail but was jailed for five years in his absence at Warwick Crown Court earlier this week.

The 40-year-old, of Blackshaw Drive in nearby Walsgrave, failed to appear for his trial or sentencing and is on the run.

Fletcher was arrested in January last year following a stabbing during a fracas in Wyken, Coventry, in February 2011.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Fleur Buxton, said: “James Fletcher has been convicted of a very serious offence. We now need to find him and get him behind bars where he belongs so that he can serve his time, and I would appeal for anyone who knows where he may be to get in touch.”
