Man dies in 'workplace accident' at Ikea store

A man has died following a "workplace accident" at an Ikea store.

Police were called to a branch of the furniture chain in Pincents Lane, Reading, at 2.33am on Wednesday by South Central Ambulance Service.

The ambulance service said it attended a "workplace accident" overnight at the store.

Thames Valley Police said no arrests had been made and that officers would stay on site while an investigation is carried out.

The store remains closed.

Ikea's deputy retail manager, Javier Quinones, confirmed the death and said: "The safety and security of everyone on our premises is always our highest priority and we are now supporting the Thames Valley Police with their investigation. The store will remain closed this morning.

"Our thoughts are with the individual's family at this time."
