The latest killing saw 17-year-old Abdikarim Hassan found seriously injured in Bartholomew Road, Camden, north London at 8.30pm on Tuesday. Paramedics were unable to save him.

So far this year, 16 people have been stabbed to death in the capital, of whom five were aged 19 or under, Scotland Yard said. In 2017, there were 80 fatal stabbings in London.

Hasan Ozcan 19, from Barking, east London, died on February 3 after suffering multiple stab wounds; while 19-year-old Sabri Chibani, from Streatham, south London, suffered fatal knife wounds to the chest on February 11.

Lord Promise Nkenda, 17, from Newham, east London, died from knife wounds to the chest after he was attacked on Valentine's Day.

And on Sunday, Lewis Blackman, 19, from Camden, north London was found fatally hurt after police were called to the aftermath of a party in Kensington.

Police have expressed growing concern about a rise in knife crime, and staged a nationwide crackdown last week in a bid to stem the tide.

In England and Wales, in the year to September 2017, there was a surge of 21% in recorded crimes involving a knife, including a 13% rise in homicides, compared to the previous year.
