Colorado has become the first US state to approve a proposal to legalise marijuana for recreational use.

Colorado has become the first US state to approve a proposal to legalise marijuana for recreational use.

The western state approved the proposal by a 52% majority and is one of three states that voted on the measure yesterday.

Washington state also appears set to approve the proposal while Oregon is on course to reject the notion.
