Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer beta coming soon

You'll get to try out Star Wars Battlefront early in October with the launch of a multiplayer beta.

On offer will be a massive 40 player battle set in the icy wastes of Hoth - the planet from the beginning of The Empire Strikes Back. It's the Walker Assault mode which sees a giant AT-AT vehicle marching slowly towards a Rebel base, eager for total destruction. You'll get to play as either one of the Rebels or Imperial Troopers and have different tasks on either side - slowing down/destroying the walker or ensuring it reaches its target.

Here's how a typical mission can go down on Hoth, additional maps will be available in the full game.

So you'll get that mission to play in the beta, which sounds like its going to be open to all players in October. In addition legendary characters Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will be available to unlock in this mission.

The Star Wars Battlefront beta will also include a Survival Mission on Tatooine which will see players trying to push back invading Imperial forces. EA also announced an upcoming companion app for the game which will let you play mini-games to unlock extras in the final release.

Look for more information on the beta soon.

Star Wars Battlefront releases on the 17th of November 2015 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
