Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo’s upcoming release, shows everyone’s favourite character living his absolute best life. But some fans are getting riled up about something else.

The gaming giant released a seven-minute preview of the Switch game on Wednesday, which shows Mario navigating various kingdoms in a range of outfits.

But it was one particular still, which shows the former plumber shirtless and frolicking on a beach in polka dot swim shorts, that really got the internet talking.

Just when you thought you’d seen Mario in all his guises, he reveals he has actual nipples – a revelation which caught many Twitter users off guard.

Naturally, it became the perfect meme fodder.

In the game, fans can also look forward to seeing Mario in a safari get-up, in a sombrero, and sporting a tortoiseshell backpack as he journeys around the world.
