Belgium coach Robert Waseige is stepping down after their exit from the World Cup.

He is returning to Standard Liege, whom he took to second in the Belgian league in 1995.

After the defeat to Brazil, Waseige said: "The Belgian FA will have to pick someone to replace me, but whoever it is, I hope they have as much fun as I have had with the national team.

"I enjoyed this game and the whole tournament.

"We lost but I think my players gave a good image of Belgian football."

Meanwhile, playmaker Marc Wilmots has announced his retirement from international football.

The 33-year-old midfielder said: "It was great but I had to close this chapter.

"After the final whistle, lots of emotions came flowing. I leave the World Cup with my head high."
