Paul Cooke has been appointed to the sub-committee overseeing ongoing investigations and procedures at the FAI.

Mr Cooke, a former Director with Waterford United, is a chartered accountant who has worked as CEO of the Irish Daily Star and the Sunday Business Post newspapers.

He is currently a trustee of Larkview FC in Dublin and a former player-member of the club.

Mr Cooke was nominated unopposed for the position of Honorary Treasurer by the FAI board.

He will join the association's President Donal Conway and Board members Niamh O’Donoghue, Eamonn Naughton, Paraic Treanor and Noel Fitzroy on the sub-committee set up to oversee investigations and processes ongoing at the FAI.

Mr Conway said: “Paul Cooke’s experience in the media industry and in business, coupled with his acumen as a chartered accountant, is a valuable addition to our sub-committee."

Mr Cooke said: “I look forward to working with the Board of the FAI on this sub-committee and I am confident that my business and financial background will be an asset to the processes underway at the FAI.”
