Longford hold Shels to draw

Shelbourne’s poor start to the season continued as they had to settle for a point against a Longford side making their first outing of the campaign.

Shels had marginally the better of the first half with Glen Crowe firing wide midway through.

But it was Town who might have been in front at the break from what would have been an own goal.

Dessie Baker burst forward down the right and his cross was turned only inches past a post by retreating Shels winger Bobby Ryan.

But Town were the better side after the break and Sean Prunty brought a brilliant save out of Steve Williams 20 minutes from time as troubled Shels clung on for a share of the points.
