Ireland's Under-20s were hit by two late strikes which sent them to defeat in Slovakia today.

Brian Kerr's team, which will take part in next year's U20 World Championships in the United Arab Emirates, took a first-half lead in Devin thanks to a 27th minute goal from Nottingham Forest's Liam Kearney.

Slovakia left it late but goals in the 84th and 88th minutes from Halenar and Pecovsky sealed victory for the home side.

Kerr's team now cross the Slovakian border to play the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
