Israeli soccer club renames itself after Donald Trump following embassy move

After backing up a campaign promise US president Donald Trump has moved its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv - much to the annoyance of most EU countries.

While this move has been celebrated by the Israelis, it has also angered the Palestinians who consider the eastern part of the city to be the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Now, the six-time Israeli football champions Beitar Jerusalem has renamed itself Beitar Trump Jerusalem in honour of the American president's move, describing the leader of the free world as 'courageous'.

Currently second in the Israeli league, Beitar are the only club in the county's top division to have never signed an Arab player, according to the Times of Israel.

The newly branded Beitar Trump Jerusalem play Maccabi Tel Aviv on Tuesday.
