Cork City 0 St. Patrick’s Athletic 1
Ryan Guy's well taken late goal gave St. Pat’s a much needed morale-boost as they won at Turner’s Cross for the second time this season.
Guy struck on 89 minutes when finishing with aplomb in driving a shot low past City keeper Dan Connor after midfielder Gareth O’Connor played him through on goal.
While the result ended two defeats for St. Pat's, it's a big dent in Cork's title hopes as they've now taken just one point from their last four home games and remain fourth in the table.
Both sides had clear-cut scoring chances in a tightly contested first half.
Cork’s Denis Behan looked set to punish a poor back pass by Dave Partridge on 15 minutes, but St. Pat’s keeper Gary Rogers did well to come off his line and save with his feet.
St. Pat’s responded and striker Glen Fitzpatrick had a volley cleared off the line by Neal Horgan just before the half hour mark.
Behan had a goal disallowed for offside on 61 minutes as the chances dried up in the second half - before Guy's late intervention.
