Franck Ribery is suing CNN for $1.5m after using unauthorised picture of him
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery is suing CNN for €1.4m after they used a photo of him to illustrate an article about the death of a woman during cryotherapy.
The unauthorised image appeared on the American television network’s Twitter feed, alongside the headline: “Woman found frozen in cryotherapy chamber, health trend called into question.”
The France winger’s lawyer said his client never gave his authorisation for them to use the photo.

Carlo Alberto Busa told French radio RMC: “Mr Franck Ribery… never gave his authorisation and his consent for the use of this picture… of his image… to this publication.”
“Mr Franck Ribery and his family instructed me to go to French court to seek damages of at least 1.5 million US dollars.”
