Leeds United footballer Eirik Bakke denied charges of drink-driving, driving without a licence and without insurance when he appeared before magistrates today.
Norwegian international Bakke, 25, is accused of driving a BMW car while over the drink-drive limit in Wike Ridge View – the road where he lives in the Alwoodley area of Leeds on January 14 this year.
He is also charged with driving the same vehicle without insurance and not in accordance with a driving licence.
Bakke, who was signed by Leeds in 1999, pleaded not guilty to each of the three charges when he appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court for a five-minute hearing.
Wearing a grey pinstriped suit with a patterned tie, he confirmed his name, address and date of birth before entering his pleas and indicating that he understood what was going on in the courtroom.
The case was adjourned for a trial to take place at Wetherby Magistrates Court in West Yorkshire on May 8.
Bakke was given unconditional bail.
