There had been suggestions that Munster would or should make a move for the player, but Leinster legend Brian O’Driscoll believes that was never likely to happen.
He gave us his view on the move last night.

“I’d like to wish him the very best of luck,” O’Driscoll said. “His service to Leinster, and Ireland over the last couple of years, winning multiple trophies, has definitely earned him the right to pick a club where he is going to be number one at 10, his preferred position.”
He explained why he thought Munster would not be a good fit for Madigan.
“It never really felt like a viable option for a couple of reasons.
“I really didn't think that he was Munster's type of player. When I say that, not every club has to have a type of player.
“But in pivotal positions, like 10, I think clubs go for a certain type of player.”
O’Driscoll continued: “You look at Leinster, they've gone for Felipe Contepomi in the past, probably of the Ian Madigan ilk.
“Whereas Munster have had players like Ronan O’Gara for 15 years. He was a lot more structured to his play, as much as he played heads up, he definitely had those structures in place to get the best out of his forward pack and his team in general.”
BOD couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at the hairstyles of both O’Gara and Madigan, before predicting success for the number 10 in France.
“Bordeaux are getting a fantastic, high-end goalkicker. Without a shadow of a doubt, he'll win them games.”
