Munster 24, Rest of Ireland 22 (full-time)
Munster picked up a panic win ahead of next weekend’s crunch European Cup semi-final with a hard earned 24-22 win over a Rest of Ireland selection at Thomond Park thisevening.
Mick Galwey’s side had to withstand a spirited second half comeback from the Irish fifteen to gain victory.
Munster lead 17-10 at half time thanks to first half tries from Anthony Foley and Jeremy Staunton, but the rest of Ireland selection scored two tries of their own, including a smashing effort from centre Brian O’Driscoll.
A David Humphreys try within six minutes of the restart left just two points between the sides. Staunton got in for his second try a few minutes later and a converted Tyrone Howe touchdown left just two points between the sides at full time.
