O'Mahony: We'll have to be at our best to beat Toulouse

Munster captain Peter O'Mahony insists he is feeling fully fit and ready to go as Munster get set to welcome Toulouse to Thomond Park this weekend in the Heineken Cup.

O’Mahony was withdrawn late from the Munster side that lost to Leinster in the Pro 12 last weekend.

He had a hamstring problem and at the time the province had said it was just precautionary.

The captain admits his frustration in having no real game time before this Saturday’s big game in the Heineken Cup.

“I would have liked another run in a game but this is the way my cards have been dealt and I just have to make the best of this week and put my best foot forward for selection,” O’Mahony said.

“We are preparing for their best team to come over here regardless of who’s in it, it’s going to be a quality side.

“We are going to have to play the best game we have played all year to give ourselves a chance of winning the game.”

What’s unique to this week is that despite the recent meetings of the two sides, this weekend will be the first time Toulouse make the trip to Limerick.

While there is the old and worn out cliché of the fans being the 16th says the Tomond Park faithful will have to make it an intimidating first time for the French side.

“Toulouse coming to Thomond Park for the first time, half 1 on a Saturday afternoon in the Heineken Cup quarter final, it really doesn’t get much better than that.”

“Whether you are a player or a fan, it will be an incredible day out and everyone is looking forward to it.”
