Ireland must build on narrow win against France, says Peter O'Mahony

Peter O'Mahony has said that Ireland has some work to do ahead of Saturday's Six Nations meeting with Italy.

The side had their training session delayed today due to a frozen pitch at Carton House.

Josh van der Flier has been ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage, but the squad report no further injury worries.

Back-row O'Mahony says they must work on the positive aspects of last weekend's narrow victory over France in Paris.

"A lot of the aspects of the game we were happy with over the 80 minutes, not just the last few minutes," he said.

"The downside of professionalism is that you have to get on to the next one, and we've a massive challenge this week and you can't be hanging around dwelling on what happened, you have to turn the page and get on to the quality side that Italy are."

He added: "We had one or two that we weren't happy with, but as a whole, I thought our set-piece functioned very well.

"The scrum was good - but again, we've got to build on what was good and have a look at the small things that we can fix and take them into the weekend."
