Gloucester today announced the signing of England Under-21 wing James Bailey.

Bailey, 20, will join the Zurich Premiership club on a one-year deal from Bristol after scoring 14 tries during Shoguns’ National League One campaign this season.

He has also been selected as a member of the England squad for next month’s Under-21 World Cup in Scotland.

“James showed a lot of ability in Division One last season,” said Gloucester rugby director Nigel Melville.

“It will be a big step up for him in the Zurich Premiership, but he has the talent, as his try-scoring record shows.”
