Stephen Hendry strolled into the second round of the Embassy World Championship in Sheffield with an emphatic 10-4 victory over Shaun Murphy.
Hendry staked his claim for an eighth title with an assured display against a rising star who lacked nothing in confidence on or off the table.
Murphy, 19, had given himself a lifeline by winning the last two frames of Sunday's opening session to trail 6-3.
But Hendry put himself on the brink of the last 16 when he moved 9-3 ahead helped by breaks of 62 and 82 before Murphy ensured there would be an interval by taking the next.
The world number 169 was first among the balls in frame 14 but missed a long pot and split open the reds, leaving Hendry to knock in a run of 111, his second century of the match, to wrap up his success.
