Scotland physio 'ordering in more ice bags for Dublin'

Ireland welcome Scotland to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday in what sure to be a bruising encounter, at least according to one Scottish physio.

Scotland captain John Barclay has been writing a Six Nations column for BBC Sport and he says that one way the Scots are preparing for Ireland is with more ice.

In his column, Barclay says he spent some downtime chatting to his team's physio who said "he was ordering in more ice bags for Dublin."

He said that, from his perspective, he gets through more ice to nurse more bumps and bruises in games against Ireland and South Africa than any other nation we play. I laughed, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a joke.

Ireland will have plenty of strong ball carriers on the field against Scotland in the likes of Tadhg Furlong and CJ Stander and they will be key to Ireland's hopes of winning.

Barclay adds that he knows what it feels like to have beaten Ireland in Dublin having played in when Scotland won there in 2010. But the back row added that if his team were to repeat that success they must "be better in Dublin than we were against England at BT Murrayfield."

You can read Barclay's full column on BBC Sport here.

Ireland v Scotland kicks off on Saturday at 2.15pm at the Aviva Stadium.
