Safes bolted to wall ripped out in 'despicable attack' on Tyrone GAA club
St Enda's GAA club in Omagh was the victim of a "despicable attack" by burglars causing "a considerable amount of damage".
The club posted on their Facebook page that the attack happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning at Healy Park with the thieves stealing and damaging vital club equipment and contents.
Police are investigating the incident in which clubrooms were damaged and safes were ripped out in the robbery.
Events scheduled to take place this week have had to be cancelled due to the damage done, including youth players' indoor activities and a community bingo event.
BBC Newsline spoke to club treasurer Paul Meldrum, who showed how significant the damage was.
Speaking to the BBC, club secretary Conor Sally said there was a number of items taken, including "a number of safes, some of which had been bolted to the wall and had been obviously forcefully removed".
The club said it would "not allow this despicable attack on our club to set us back".
Yesterday the club posted pictures of the clean up effort on Facebook, thanking volunteers for their their help.
Polic say the break-in happened between 9pm on Monday and 8am on Tuesday and have appealed for information.
