Power just held the late thrust of Dragon Pulse to land the Goffs National Stakes at the Curragh.
Aidan O’Brien’s runner was sent off the 11-4 second favourite after suffering a surprise defeat in the Phoenix Stakes at this track last month.
However, stepped up to seven furlongs, Power returned to winning form in the hands of Seamie Heffernan.
The rider made his move coming into the final furlong and Power responded to take over the lead but Fran Berry was flying in behind on Dragon Pulse.
He swooped for victory in the shadow of the post but Power had just enough in hand to register a half-length verdict over the 5-2 favourite with David Livingston, a stablemate of the winner, back in third.
Heffernan said: ``I felt I shouldn't have been beaten on Power the last day and I rode him with more confidence today.
“He had a hard race when beaten the last day, but I think it actually brought him on a bit.
“He’s a good, strong colt, trains well at home and was in good form coming here.”
