McGrath suffers freak injury ahead of second Ashes test

Australia paceman Glenn McGrath was carried off the field at Edgbaston this morning after being injured in the pre-match warm-up ahead of the start of the second Test.

Australia paceman Glenn McGrath was carried off the field at Edgbaston this morning after being injured in the pre-match warm-up ahead of the start of the second Test.

McGrath was involved in a knock-about with a rugby ball with the rest of the squad when the problem struck.

He fell to the floor and was immediately surrounded by concerned team-mates, hobbling from the field some minutes later on a motorised buggy to be assessed by medical staff.
