Shane Lowry produced the perfect response to yesterday’s disappointing 74 at the Sicilian Open today and was seven under for the day through 15 – two shots off the pace in third.
England’s Chris Wood picked up eight shots over the first 12 holes of his final round to earn a share of the lead alongside Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen.
Twenty-two-year-old Dane Olesen had a mixed opening at the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort, carding two bogeys and four birdies over his first seven holes to be two under for the round.
Olesen had started the day with a three-shot advantage.
England’s Anthony Wall and Spain’s Jose Manuel Lara were a further stroke adrift in a tie for fourth, Wall seven under for his final round with one hole remaining and Lara four under through 10.
