LOUTH 1-17 DCU 1-10

DCU's bid to become the first university side to lift the O'Byrne Cup failed at Drogheda as Louth came out on top in this afternoon's final.

Midfielder Brian White was in fine form, playing a roaming role and top-scoring with 0-07 as Louth lifted the O'Byrne title for the first time since 1990.

Eamonn McEneaney's men were 1-09 to 0-05 to the good at half-time, with their goal being deflected to the net by DCU defender Paddy Andrews.

Brian Sheridan kicked four first-half points for DCU and the students salvaged some pride with a late Conor Rafferty goal.
