Darryll Holland has been booked for the ride on the Jeremy Noseda-trained La Chunga in the Stan James 1000 Guineas at Newmarket next Sunday.
Successful in the Group Three Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot at York last season, Noseda has revealed the filly will have one more gallop before her big day.
The daughter of More Than Ready heads to the race without having had a prep run this spring but Noseda did take her for a racecourse spin at HQ immediately after the Craven meeting.
Speaking on his official website, jeremynoseda.com, the Newmarket trainer said: “Darryll Holland will ride her in the 1,000 Guineas. She will do one more piece of work this week.
“The weather forecast suggests fast ground and that will suit her. We will have to take it on trust that she’ll get the trip but she seems in good order and we hope that she’ll run a good, solid race.”
Connections are still mulling over whether Araafa will take his chance in next Saturday’s Stan James 2000 Guineas.
A minor setback ruled him out of the Free Handicap at Newmarket earlier in month and a gallop early this week is likely to determine whether he tackles the first domestic Classic of the year.
Noseda said: “We will work Araafa on Tuesday morning, have a chat with the owners and then make a decision.”
Noseda also added that Secret World, an impressive winner of the first division of the Wood Ditton maiden at the Craven meeting, will definitely not go for the 2000 Guineas.
