James Gibson and Rebecca Cooke will attempt to defend their titles after being selected to represent England at the Commonwealth Games in March.

Cooke will defend her 400metres and 800m titles while Gibson will be looking to retain his 50m breaststroke crown after being named in a Team England squad of 26.

Making a return to action is sprint specialist Mark Foster, who was omitted from the Great Britain teams for the 2004 Olympics and this year’s World Championships, in what will be his sixth appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

Also selected is triple British record holder Simon Burnett, an Olympic finalist in the 200m freestyle in 2004, who is set to face Australian double world-record holder Ian Thorpe, who is making his return to international action after choosing to take a season out after Athens.
