The San Francisco Giants have won the World Series after securing a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game Seven at Kauffman Stadium.

Michael Morse’s go-ahead hit in the fourth inning proved to be the winner for Bruce Bochy’s team as they completed a 4-3 series triumph.

The Giants have now won three World Series in five years after their success in 2010 and 2012.

Two runs in the second, set up by Morse's and Brandon Crawford's sacrifice flies, from Pablo Sandoval and Hunter Pence got the Giants off to a promising start.

But the Royals hit back immediately with two runs of their own in the second as Alex Gordon’s double sent Billy Butler home before Gordon also crossed home plate with Omar Infante sacrificed.

After a scoreless third inning, up stepped Morse in the fourth and his single on a drive to Royals right fielder Nori Aoki allowed Pablo Sandoval to score the winning run.

Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner, who was later named Most Valuable Payer, subsequently pitched five scoreless innings to secure victory for his side.

Bumgarner became the 26th pitcher to win the World Series MVP award after he allowed just one earned run in 21 innings.

“It’s awesome,” he told Fox Sports. “We’re truly blessed to just have this opportunity and be here and I couldn’t be any more thankful for that.”

Morse, whose fourth-inning double secured the Giants’ eighth World Series title, paid tribute to his team-mates in a post-match interview.

“It’s unbelievable,” he told MLB.com. “From day one we believed in each other and I believed in these guys and they just proved to me why they are a championship ball club.

“It’s been such an unbelievable ride and I can’t thank these guys enough for having me along and now I can honestly say I’m a World Series champion.”
