McLaren’s David Coulthard has come out in support of Juan Pablo Montoya in his dispute with Michael Schumacher following the Brazilian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

Coulthard said Montoya has every right to be angry with Schumacher over the collision which almost put the Colombian out of the race.

Montoya has claimed that Schumacher unfairly blocked him in Sao Paulo, causing his Williams to crash into the back of the German’s Ferrari.

"I have watched the incident at turn four repeatedly and to me Michael clearly makes a deliberate swerving manoeuvre to his left after his initial manoeuvre to block Montoya," Coulthard said.

"That is not what the regulations say you are allowed to do. My understanding is you are allowed to make a defensive move, but you are not allowed to make a move that hinders the opportunity for the car behind you to overtake."
