Duignan quits as Meath hurling boss

Former All-Ireland winning Offaly forward, Michael Duignan, has quit as Meath senior hurling manager after two years in charge of the Royal County.

Former All-Ireland winning Offaly forward, Michael Duignan, has quit as Meath senior hurling manager after two years in charge of the Royal County.

Duignan withdrew his services earlier in the summer after a fixtures fall out with the county board but was back in charge for their preliminary championship defeat to Carlow in Navan.

However, the 1994 and 1998 All-Ireland winner with Offaly has never hid his disappointment about the lack of interest in hurling in the county which is believed to be behind his decision to quit.

Selector Paddy Kelly from the Kiltale club is likely to take over.
