Kerry’s Sean Casey finished sixth in the men's single sculls, but missed out on qualification by seven seconds, while Neill Casey and Derek Holland also failed to qualify after finishing sixth in the heavyweight pairs.

In the women’s double sculls, fourth place was enough for Sinead Jennings and Heather Boyle to book their place in Athens.
