Clean bill of health for Ireland after Captain's Run ahead of Scotland clash

Ireland have announced a clean bill of health ahead of tomorrow's Six Nations clash with Scotland at the Aviva Stadium.

Joe Schmidt's men have held their Captain's Run at the match venue with no injury concerns emerging.

Jonny Sexton required treatment for a back problem during the final run out prior to the win over Wales, but there are no late injury worries this time around.

Ireland were caught cold by Scotland at Murrayfield when they sealed a 27-22 win on the opening day last year and fullback Rob Kearney says they are determined to avoid a repeat of that defeat.

"We tried to take a huge amount of learnings from it last year, and certainly as the competition progressed...we felt we got a little bit better," said the Leinster man.

"It's been a big area of our training this week - making sure our systems are in place and we're smart in how we defend."

Meanwhile, captain Rory Best has said talks on a new contract are at an advanced stage and he hopes an announcement will be made very soon.

The 35-year-old's current deal expires in June.

The Ulster hooker feels he is close finalising an agreement which will run up to the end of next year's World Cup in Japan.
