The team behind Newmarket handicap winner Bronze Cannon will decide on whether he takes his chance in the Derby later this week.
The John Gosden-trained colt beat the Chester Vase winner Doctor Freemantle off level weights earlier in the season at Headquarters and followed up there on Sunday.
Owner Anthony Openheimer’s racing advisor Hugo Lascelles told the Racing Post: “Mr Oppenheimer gets back from abroad on Thursday and he will sit down with John and they will discuss where we go, but I would say they are certainly considering the Derby.
“I would have to think it is very open and he could run a very respectable race there.
“I would say we will know where we stand by Thursday of Friday. I know the owner would love to have a runner in the Derby and he will listen to what John says.”
