Celtic have belatedly issued season-ticket renewal forms to members of the Green Brigade section of their support – on the basis they refrain from “lateral movement”.

The club had delayed issuing forms to fans in section 111 of Celtic Park after Glasgow City Council’s safety team for sports grounds expressed concerns over the co-ordinated jumping of the most vocal group of supporters.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “Celtic is pleased to announce that is has received confirmation from the safety team that the issuing of season books for this section can now be made on the basis that all season book holders within this section refrain from any lateral movement.

“Clearly, the club has worked hard to ensure that we can maintain this section and we are pleased that the safety team has not sought to impose any capacity reduction at this stage.

“The club was closely involved in the formation of this section and fully recognises the positive support for the team that has been shown from this area.

“We look forward to next season and thank supporters in this section for their continued backing.”
