Mickey Ned O'Sullivan has been appointed as the new Limerick senior football manager.
A full meeting of the Limerick county board in Claghaun last night saw the 57-year-old confirmed as successor to his fellow Kerryman Liam Kearns, who stepped down in July, in the role.
O'Sullivan, who claimed recent notoriety as a selector on TG4's "Underdogs" programme, captained Kerry to All-Ireland glory against Dublin in 1975. He was unable to accept the Sam Maguire Cup on his county's behalf however, as he had been knocked unconscious and hospitalised during the final.
Manager of the Kerry senior football team in the early 1990s, O'Sullivan beat off competition from Monaleen's Ger Lawlor, Dromcollogher/Broadford boss Moss McCarthy, Caltra's All-Ireland club winning manager Frank Doherty, former Clare supremo John Kennedy and ex-Kerry and Westmeath manager Paidí Ó Sé for the position with the Shannonsiders.
