Mary Coote-Ryan, Mayor of Ennis said: "On behalf of Ennis Town Council, I want to congratulate the Clare hurlers for the honour and pleasure they have brought to the people of the County by their impressive performances in this year’s All-Ireland Senior and U21 Hurling Championships.

These performances have showcased the wonderful wealth of sporting talent that exists in Clare and how our young hurlers are able to compete with and defeat the country’s top intercounty teams. The pride, passion and skill demonstrated by these groups of young men are a tribute to everybody associated with hurling in the county."

Joe Arkins, Mayor of Clare, said: "The sense of achievement that the Clare hurlers have instilled in the people of Clare, irrespective of whether they are hurling fans, cannot be understated. The country has not seen hurling teams as exciting and gifted as these young sides in many a year.

"Today’s win and the U21 victory two weeks ago are testament to the work carried out at underage level in the county over a number of years and I look forward to welcoming home our young heroes tomorrow night."

The Clare Senior Hurlers defeated Cork in the All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship replay in Croke Park today, while the County’s Under 21 side captured their third All Ireland title in four years by beating Antrim in Semple Stadium two weeks ago.
