Cork GAA chairperson Tracey Kennedy has said that she expects the Páirc Uí Chaoimh pitch to be recovered in time for the Munster SHC first round clash with Tipperary - but has said the whole playing surface may have to be relaid.
Tonight's Allianz Hurling League clash with Clare was moved to Pairc Ui Rinn after the pitch was deemed unplayable after the league double-header two weeks ago.
"There is still a final decision to be made on the timings of the works but it's likely that we will have to repair the pitch," she told RTE ahead of the NHL clash with the Banner County.
"We hope it will be fine for Championship, it was last year. Even though we had a similar problem it had recovered by Championship because the grass was growing.
"We should be fine, May 12 is our target date for Championship and we will probably do the repair work later in the year but the stadium board has yet to make a final decision on timing there," she added.
The chairperson added that the stadium board will decide what exact work will be done on the pitch.
