Welch inspired by granny's visit in dream

Florence Welch's late grandmother inspired one of her new songs when she came to her in a dream.

The Florence and the Machine singer is heavily influenced her late grandparents and her track 'Only if for a Night' was inspired by a nocturnal vision she had on tour in Germany, although the singer was surprised by what happened in the dream.

Florence said: "She told me, 'Concentrate on your perfect career'. Can you imagine? It's like, 'You've left your laundry out and it's going to rain'. ‘OK Grandma, thanks!’ I thought it would be something, y'know, more cryptic."

Paul Epworth, who produced Florence's new album, 'Ceremonials', thinks Florence has psychic powers, and although she claims she is "not a mystic person," she admits to not being sure where all her ideas are from.

She added in an interview with NME magazine: "I think [Paul] means that sometimes when you're songwriting, a song will just appear and you have no idea where the words came from or what you're talking about until it's finished. That's how most of my favourite songs are written. 'Shake It Out' happened just like that."
