The Who to perform 'Quadrophenia' as tour comes to Ireland

Legendary rock band The Who are to perform their iconic 1973 double album 'Quadrophenia' during their upcoming tour of Ireland and the UK, it was announced today.

The band, who will also be playing a selection of classics, play The O2 in Dublin on June 8, and Odyssey Arena in Belfast on June 10.

Tickets are on sale this Friday, February 1, at 9am from Ticketmaster outlets and online.

The critically acclaimed 'Quadrophenia' marked the British band’s second rock opera (after 'Tommy'), hit number 2 on the UK album chart and is credited with influencing the future of UK style, fashion and culture – from Paul Weller to Bradley Wiggins, from Paul Smith to Noel Gallagher.

It features such classic The Who songs as 'The Real Me', '5:15' and 'Love Reign o’er Me'.

This new concert version of 'Quadrophenia', personally directed by Roger Daltrey, focuses on the original album and "replaces the narrative used in previous stage versions with powerful imagery projected on an array of massive screens, designed to support, complement and propel the musical content of the work by setting it in the context of the history of the band", a tour press release stated.

The 10-date tour features founding members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, joined by Zak Starkey (drums), Pino Palladino (bass), Simon Townshend (guitar/backing vocals), John Corey (keyboards), Loren Gold (keyboards/backing vocals) and Frank Simes (musical director, keyboards/backing vocals).
