The Doors are planning a reunion tour and album over 30 years after the death of singer Jim Morrison.

Band members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger are confirmed to play a September 6 gig at the California Motor Speedway.

Original drummer John Densmore is also likely to play

A number of singers are expected to lend vocal parts at the show, although the majority will be sung by The Cult vocalist Ian Astbury.

More dates are being planned, including European shows in spring 2003.

A new album is also likely to follow, reports NME.COM.

Jim Morrison died in a Paris apartment on July 3 1971 at the age of 27.
