Clint Eastwood, Muhammad Ali and Robin Williams were among stars whose old shoes raised thousands of dollars for orphans, a charity said today.
A pair of tennis shoes Eastwood wore in the movie Space Cowboys attracted high bids as did Christina Aguilera’s boots, which were custom-made for her most recent concert tour.
The highest price was for the autographed size 22 boots of American basketball star Shaquille O’Neal, which went for €2,905.
The online sale, which featured 30 pairs of footwear, raised nearly €28,000.
The money will be donated to orphans around the world to buy new shoes.
Among the lots were Robin Williams’ zany camouflage Reebok tennis shoes and Tom Hanks’ brown leather Guccis.
Other footwear that brought in top bids were shoes donated by Ali, Sarah Jessica Parker, Courteney Cox, Matt Damon, Brooke Shields, Jeff Gordon, Julianne Moore, Lara Flynn Boyle, Calista Flockhart, Charlize Theron and Heidi Klum.
The sale was organised by Buckner Orphan Care International and hosted by online auction company ebay.
