Musician Sharon Shannon is to be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement gong at the Meteor Music Awards, set to take place on St Patrick's Day in Dublin.
Shannon, the youngest ever winner, has earned the tribute for her outstanding contribution to the Irish music industry over the past 22 years.
From Clare, she has been nicknamed the 'Queen of the Squeezebox' after bringing the accordion into the mainstream.
Shannon has recorded and toured with music greats including Bono, Sinead O’Connor, Steve Earle, Mark Knopfler, The Chieftains and Shane MacGowan.
The awards, presented by Amanda Byram, take place March 17 at the RDS where Shannon will perform her number one hit 'Galway Girl', the song recorded with Mundy which has spent the last three months in the top five.
AC/DC, Coldplay, Elbow, The Killers and Kings of Leon are all up for Best International Band, while Boyzone, The Blizzards, The Coronas, The Script and Westlife are the nominees for Best Irish Pop Act.
