Experimental rock act Radiohead today confirmed they are to headline Glastonbury festival this summer.
The band will be the main draw on the Saturday night – traditionally the showpiece gig – for the weekend-long event which is Britain’s best known music festival.
Other acts at the festival from June 27-29 are tipped to include Craig David, Coldplay and Prince.
Organisers of the event now wait until tickets have sold out before announcing the full bill, but many of the bands in the line up announce their involvement before then.
Radiohead last played at Glastonbury in 1997.
The band members - who enjoyed huge US success with their past two albums - also confirmed the name of their sixth release today after months of speculation among fans.
The album, to be released on June 9, will be called Hail To The Thief and with a single, There There, on May 26.
Most of the material on the album has been previewed at shows in Portugal and Spain.
A seven-date tour of theatres in the UK and Ireland in May, which was announced on Radiohead’s website at the weekend, sold out immediately.
