Although we haven't said goodbye to August yet, preparations are already underway for the next big date on our calendar - Halloween.
Several online costume companies have received huge backlash on social media after they released a Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume.
The fancy-dress outfit, aimed to the resemble her cover of Vanity Fair, has been branded as “disgusting”, “offensive” and “transphobic” by fans and member of the transgender community.
.@Caitlyn_Jenner Halloween costume: Mocking the #transgender community is degrading, disrespectful & harmful. We are humans, not jokes.

“Everyone has seen Vanity Fair's popular July cover, so you'll be easily recognized this Halloween when you dress up in the Call Me Caitlyn Unisex Adult Costume,” reads the description on Anytimecostumes.com
“With the items in the set, you'll be able to emulate her picture perfect look for the upcoming party this year. Included are a white padded top and matching shorts as well as a brunette wig so that you can dress as the softer side of the popular Olympian. A sash that says ‘call me Caitlyn’ also comes with the set so that there will be no mistaking who you are dressed as this Halloween".
Anytimecostumes.com even go on to say it would be “sure to get a few laughs”:
“You probably won't break any Twitter records when you wear this outfit like Caitlyn did when she first made her account, but you'll be sure to get a few laughs out of your friends and the other guests at the get together”.
Another online costume store - Buycostumes.com - also featured the former American Olympian in her running gear, complete with wig and sash, but has since been removed from the site.
While Spirithalloween.com also followed suit and removed the listing from their site - after a petition was launched on Change.org - it’s still available to buy on other sites.
A spokesperson for the store, Lisa Barr, released the following statement: “We create a wide range of costumes that are often based upon celebrities, public figures, heroes and superheroes.
"We feel that Caitlyn Jenner is all of the above and that she should be celebrated. The Caitlyn Jenner costume reflects just that."
Thought Twitter users continue to flood the social media platforms expressing their anger - and rightly so.
