New Garbage album 'next year'

Garbage are aiming to release their new album next year.

The 'Stupid Girl' rockers are keen to get back into the studio to record new music in order to prevent a long gap between LPs, which happened after their 2005 record 'Bleed Like Me' and 2012's 'Not Your Kind Of People'.

Producer and drummer Butch Vig explained: "I think we want to get going quicker. We'd like to see a record come out next year.

"We have a couple offers to play, but we may try to go into the studio in June and start working on another album."

The band - also comprised of Shirley Manson, Steve Marker, and Duke Erikson - are "excited" to channel their ideas into their new songs and are aiming for an early 2014 release.

Butch added: "We don't really have any songs started yet, but we all have ideas for songs. I have little riffs and things floating around in my head ... if we could get started some time in the summer and finish close to the end of the year, we could have it out in the spring or summer of next year, which would be cool."

All members are now on good terms following their seven-year hiatus and are close like a "family".

Butch said: "Everyone's getting along. We're really having fun at the shows. We go out to dinner, hang out, tell jokes.

"We look out for each other, too; if someone's down and not feeling very good, we try to pick them up. It's very much like a little, dysfunctional functioning family."
